Although the article is a few years old, it does a good job of showing the nuances of how the “Equal Pay for Equal Play” argument is not so cut and dry.  It would take a dramatic change in contracts and things outside the teams’ control.

The players on the U.S. women’s national soccer team earn less than those on the men’s team. After that, things are murkier.
